Detailed description of Edgeley Country Club

Edgeley Country Club, is a Semi-Private, 9 hole golf course located in Edgeley, North Dakota.

The Edgeley-Splicken Country Club golf course first opened for play July 4, 1953. the course was designed and built by the citizens of Edgeley. The course originally had sand-oiled greens.

The Edgeley-Splickan Country Club golf course course was built on land leased from the railroad. In August 1972 the Burlington Northern Railroad announce the sale of the former Midland Railroad right-of-way where the Edgeley Golf Course sits.

After negotiating with the Railroad to purchase the land the Golf Course was a part of, the Railroad set a price of $3100.

The Country Club met and discussed the price of the land and possible ways to obtain the financing to purchase this land.

Club members were overjoyed when a check was received from local townsman Laverne Splickan in the amount of $3100. This money was to be used to purchase the discontinued railroad right-of-way property with the understanding that it would be used for the Golf Course. If the golf course were ever abandoned or ceased to exist, the property would revert to the Shriners Crippled Children.

Splickan Country Club golf course plays to a par-35 and a maximum 9-hole distance of 2,826-yards. There are two par 3's, six par 4's and one par 5 hole. The greens are no longer oiled-sand.

This short executive course was built for the benefit of the town citizenry. This is a great place for beginning golfers to learn the game or experience ones who wish to work on their short game.
